LOVE LIVES HERE
“…Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40
Love Lives Here – Regina is a local Non-Profit Christian Charitable Organization. The organization originated in Winnipeg where a similar group, saw the need in
Regina to work with the prostitutes that travel from city to city. They donated a bus and the Regina bus ministry was birthed. Our group was formed in the spring of 1991. An advisory Board oversees the activities, there are no paid staff. Volunteers are used in every aspect of the ministry. The funding is provided by donations from churches and individuals. Tax receipts are made available to those that financially support this work.
The outreach began by targeting the prostitutes in Regina. Over the course of time the scope has widened to anyone on the street that would like to approach our bus for food, shelter, prayer or just to talk. Child prostitution is on a steep incline in Regina and the need is great. It has been reported, that there are an estimated 300 child prostitutes in Regina.
Our bus ministers in the Downtown area and North Central area of the city, known as “The Hood.” We reach out to young and old alike. The young spend the nights roaming the steets due to lack of parental supervision. The elderly are lonely and need someone to talk to. We minister to these people by explaining that they are important to God. He created them and He sent His only Son to die for them that they may be saved - all they have to do is believe and declare their faith in Jesus. Individuals that we lead to the Lord need discipleship. We recommend them to local churches, in their area, ones that can minister to their needs. They need to develop a sense of family, a sense of belonging, a sense of acceptance. They need to be trained up in “The Word Of God” and the basics of the Christian lifestyle. They need someone that really cares about them. A relationship of trust must be developed. Words are not enough - action must also be a part of this.
You may be asking yourself, “What can I do, how can I help?”
Begin by praying about this ministry. Ask God to speak to your heart and direct you. There is a place for all that seek the direction of the Lord, to serve in this ministry. We need committed mature Christians to volunteer, as team members, on the bus. There is an application process, to become a team member, if interested contact the church office.
